DI-IaB – Deionization

Operating Profile

Removes total dissolved solids (TDS) from feed water with multimedia dechlorination followed by duplex separate-bed cation & anion exchange to produce 10 to 13-gpm of 5uS DI water. Continuous service is provided with 1 multimedia, cation & anion vessel in service while the second is being regenerated or backwashed or in standby.

Feed Tank

Minimum 500 gallons needing to be located in close proximity to the skid for gravity flow of feed water to the pump with an isolation ball & check valve, with automatic make-up water supply using a skid-mounted actuated valve, and a submersible pressure transducer measuring 0-100% water level for automatic system operation.

System Skid

System components other than the duplex cation & anion exchangers and optional multi-media pretreatment vessels are integrated on a 47” L x 36” W x 86” H” skid constructed of 304-stainless steel with a polyurethane protective coating for corrosion resistance with anchoring feet for seismic anchoring.

System Controller

System operation, monitoring, and control utilizes an Allen-Bradley Micro850 programmable logic controller (PLC) with inputs from regeneration control sensors and outputs for Hand-off-auto (HOA) control of system components with Human-machine interface (HMI) by a PanelView 7” color touch screen.

Feed Pump

Multi-stage 2-HP 316-SS centrifugal-drive pump to produce 15-gpm @ 90-psi for simultaneous service & regeneration with optional variable drive for motor control based on inlet pressure sensor to detect feed water supply. Pressurized water is filtered through a polypropylene bag filter housing with inlet & outlet valves for filter change-out.

Optional Variable Flow Drive

e for pump motor sped control based on a pump inlet pressure sensor to detect pressurized feed water instead of utilizing a system feed tank for incoming water collection and gravity feed.

Multimedia Pretreatment

Two (2) off-skid 12” x 52” fiberglass vessels containing Cerapure-C GAC-coated ceramic multimedia, with upper & lower slot-design flow distribution, allowing for one (1) vessel in service while 1 is backwashed using skid-mounted manual 3-way flow service/backwash control valves with inlet & outlet pressure gauges & sample taps.

Cation & Anion Deionizers

Two each 12” x 52” (or 13” x 54” for 13-gpm) off-skid fiberglass vessels with one (1) each in service and 1 in regeneration or stand-by controlled by a Kinetico valve with skid-mounted isolation ball valves with pressure gauges & sample taps for process monitoring and polyethylene tubing for regeneration chemicals & wastewater.

Regeneration Control

Kinetico valves control separate cation & anion service and regeneration prior to exhaustion based on feed water TDS & totalized flow, or based on product water quality following off-spec water recirculation back to the feed tank for re-processing or sent to drain with no feed tank to prevent poor water quality supply to process.

Onsite Installation Connections

s Multimedia, cation, and anion vessels to skid-mounted isolation valves by 1” PVC hose; regeneration chemicals to & waste from Kinetico valves and chemical supply from customer drums by polyethylene tubing; and from the tank isolation valve to feed pump inlet by 1.5” PVC pipe with an in-line check valve.

Optional Wastewater Neutralization

300-gallon HDLPE tank to receive acidic cation and alkaline anion regeneration waste for self-neutralization with mixing by a non-metallic re-circulation pump with discharge control by a 3-way valve controlled by an in-line pH sensor with automatic HCl or NaOH dosing to maintain discharge limits.
