The ion exchange system produces deionized (DI) water at a 90% lower cost than Service-DI with regeneration of its duplex-alternating cation and anion exchange vessels controlled by our proprietary Kinetico valve which has over 35 years of proven performance.
Among on-site regenerable systems, the WDI’s counter-current regeneration of packed-beds achieves the highest possible operating efficiency with less than 5% waste produced, compared for example to reverse osmosis with its 25% or greater typical reject waste.
“Feed-forward” grain counting provides for separate regeneration of the in-service cation and anion vessels before product water quality diminishes, utilizing separate & independent grain set points based on feed water conductivity and system flow. “Feed-back” regeneration based on product water conductivity & pH ensures continuous high-quality DI water by recirculating to the feed tank for re-processing if off-specification. The system operator can maximize service run times by adjusting the grain set points based on the frequency of regeneration types which are data-logged with operator-resettable counters.
Operation is fully-automatic controlled by an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix programmable automation controller (PAC) with a PanelView touchscreen for Human-Machine Interface (HMI) to monitor real-time feed water conductivity & flow; product water conductivity & pH; and cation & anion in-service vessels exhaustion, which are each graphically data-logged. System set-points are easily adjustable and allow customized operation and water quality depending upon customer requirements.
