The ion exchange system produces deionized (DI) water at a 90% lower cost than Service-DI with regeneration of its duplex-alternating cation and anion exchange vessels controlled by our proprietary Kinetico valve which has over 35 years of proven performance.
Among on-site regenerable systems, the WDI’s counter-current regeneration of packed-beds achieves the highest possible operating efficiency with less than 5% waste produced, compared for example to reverse osmosis with its 25% or greater typical reject waste.
Cost-saving alternative to Service Deionization (SDI)
Deionizers, demineralizers and DI systems are different names for doing the same thing. Deionization is a process to remove ions, and minerals from water. Our DI systems come in various configurations and flow rates to meet your need. WDI-5, WDI-10, and WDI-15 are all available with feed-forward, feed-back, or volumetric regeneration control depending upon feed water consistency & required product water quality, the WDI produces 1-5 uS DI water as an alternative to SDI. With an operating cost less than $6/1,000 gallons compared to SDI at $60/1,000 gallons typical return on investment (ROI) is less than 2-years when >1,500 gallons per day is required.
The WDI Elite includes a feed pump, bag filter, duplex cation and anion exchangers, and controls while we also offer lower-cost systems without a feed pump assuming adequate water pressure. Resin vessel size is based on flow requirements. An Inlet conductivity and flow meter control feed-forward regenerations with feed-back regenerations triggered based upon operator-adjustable outlet water quality.
Feed-forward regulated by a programmable automation controller utilizing conductivity & flow sensors of incoming water to calculate grains loading to initiate regeneration prior to any decrease in water quality with a conductivity sensor of the product water and automatic off-spec water re-circulation, product water is consistently high-quality with the highest operating efficiency of the 3 systems.
Feed-Back regulated by a conductivity meter of product water to initiate regeneration once quality drops below an operator-adjustable set-point. Product water quality comparable to separate-bed SDI vessels is achieved with this lower-cost unit including a feed pump and requiring an atmospheric feed water tank.
Volumetric utilizing an internal water meter with control disks geared for the dissolved solids anticipated in the feed water. The least sophisticated and costly WDI system, it cannot account for incoming water quality variations. Without expensive controls, it is the most economical system but isn’t suitable for water-critical applications. Can be provided with a feed pump or operate off pressurized water.
