Georg Fischer’s Next Generation Actuated 3-way Ball Valve

By Water Innovations Admin

Water Innovations is pleased to be selected by Georg Fischer (GF) for installation of its functional prototype “Smart Valve”. We are the first installation of this next generation valve in North America, installing two of them on a project that is being commissioned on a rinse water recycling and waste treatment system in Placentia, CA. This is the 3rd product that we have been honored to beta test for GF.

This is a 24V actuated 3-way ball valve that has a 360° LED Smart board inside the actuator. The “Smart Valve” is used with a tablet and can be connected and commissioned via a proprietary GF app (not avail. in app store). Once commissioned, the app can display live data and be able to operate the valve remotely. The live data that can be displayed via the app includes number of cycles since reset, number of cycles total, re-setting number of cycles, valve position, and the ability to set the valve position and colors.

Water Innovations is very excited about the future of wastewater recycling and the opportunities for live data mining that products like this GF “Smart Valve” will provide. The screenshots below are a sample of some of the data that is viewable via the GF app for these valves.

Staying Educated on Airline & Aerospace Finishing

By Water Innovations Admin

Water Innovations puts high value on continued education as practiced by our own Vice President, Steven Ward. Steven has completed the AESF Foundation’s Airline & Aerospace Finishing Parts 1 & 2, providing further expertise to our team.

This course provided a broad range of information related to metal finishing operations that are commonly conducted in the Airline/Aerospace industry on the specific topics below:

  • Electroplating
  • Corrosion of Metals
  • Hydrogen Embrittlement
  • Metals & Alloys Utilized in Aerospace
  • Chemical Surface Preparation of Substrates for Plating Substrates
  • Mechanical Surface Preparation – mechanical means of preparing parts for surface finishing.
  • Masking Techniques – covers methods employed for selective plating.
  • Quality Conformance Testing – covers the more commonly conducted QA/QC tests utilized in aerospace.
  • Plating Solution Maintenance
  • Chem Film
  • Zinc and Manganese Phosphating
  • LHE Zinc-Nickel Alloy Plating
  • Cadmium Ti-Cad and Nickel-Cad Diffused Coatings
  • Copper & Silver Plating
  • Sulfamate & Nickel Strike Plating
  • Hard Chromium Plating
  • Anodizing Aluminum
  • Electroless Nickel Deposition

SUR/FIN Presentation – “Process Rinses Recycling to Deionized Water for Surface Finishing Facilities”

By Water Innovations Admin

Steven Ward, VP of Water Innovations, will be presenting at the SUR/FIN Conference in Cleveland, OH on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. This presentation will focus on how finishing facilities are faced with increasing water scarcity & cost and stringent quality requirements. Water recycling to produce deionized (DI) water is a means to ensure a reliable supply of high-quality water that lowers operating costs & improves product quality. Established technologies include ion exchange (IX) & reverse osmosis (RO) to closed-loop recycle process rinses and RO & multimedia filtration for end-of-pipe. Proper technology selection and successful implementation require an understanding of which rinsewaters are suitable to recycle, evaluation of relative costs & advantages/disadvantages, and knowledge of associated operational & regulatory requirements, which will be addressed to provide the audience a basic understanding to make an informed decision.

2nd Year Corporate Sponsor for Walk for Water

By Water Innovations Admin

Walk for Water
Walk for Water is an annual event organized by Water Mission to raise both awareness of the global water crisis and money that saves lives. Water Innovations, Inc. is proud to have been a sponsor and our employees participants of Walk for Water organized by one of our key suppliers Georg Fischer the last two years. As a global leader in industrial water recycling with a passion for engineering and manufacturing highly-automated cost-efficient ion exchange systems, Water Innovations has saved our customers hundreds of millions of gallons of water over 13 years in business.

Why Walk?
Every day, millions of women and children in developing countries walk nearly 4 miles to retrieve water to their family’s daily needs. In most cases, even after walking for miles and miles, the water they have to drink is contaminated.

Our Walk will simulate this trek to raise awareness of the global water crisis here in our community. Each participant will start the Walk with an empty bucket. About half-way through, they will fill that bucket with water and complete the remainder of the course. We hope that all participants end the Walk with a better understanding of the challenges people around the world face daily in search of something that we often take for granted – water.

Visit Water Mission’s site today to find out how you can get involved…
